"Fruitful Sorrow"
2 Corinthians 7:8-11
Length Approximately 00:42:10
-----
One of the fruits which demonstrates that repentance is taking place in a sinners heart is godly sorrow. Paul writes, "you became sorrowful as God intended," indicating that sorrow over sin is God's will for us. But sorrow is not an end in and of itself...it is a means to an end, moving us to receive God's mercy in Christ with deep thirst and gratitude. The endgame of godly sorrow is joy! This message considers 10 things godly sorrow is NOT, and also seeks to define what it is.

"Your Sorrow Led You To..."
2 Corinthians 7:8-10
Length Approximately: 00:26:34
---
The Apostle Paul had sent a painful letter to the Corinthians in which he confronted them with their sin. He had received back word of how they had responded and in this passage shares that there was no regret on his part. They had been led into sorrow so that they would repent. We examine in this message the reminder that we too are called to point out sin to one another. We need to stop being paralyzed by the possible negative consequences and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

"Confession Practicum"
I John 1:9, 2:2
Length Approximately: 00:35:51
---
This message touches on some of the practical matters pertaining to the confession of sin. One of the struggles is our tendency to get hung up on contrition (sorrow over our guilt), and thus not take refuge in the mercy of Christ and His finished work (faith). But true repentance always includes both contrition and faith. We must confess our general sinfulness, as well as specific sin over which the Holy Spirit is bringing conviction. And we must confess to God above all, but also to those persons we have wronged by our sin. And confession to a trusted, mature Christian can also be of great benefit to our assurance of God's forgiveness.

"Fess Up and Confess"
Matthew 3:1-10
Length Approximately: 00:30:37
---
Repentance is composed of contrition and faith in Christ. And when the Holy Spirit is producing repentance in a sinner's heart through the Word of God, one of the fruits of that repentance will be confession of sin. David's confession in Psalm 32 reveals two elements in confession--full acknowledgment of the wretchedness of one's sin (and one's sinfulness), and total abandonment of all cover-ups. And when we are thus moved to confess to the Lord, we receive the joyous release of His forgiveness in Christ. We apologize for an error in recording. A portion of the end of the message was not recorded on Sunday.
