"The Rough Embrace of God"
Matthew 3:1-10
Length Approximately 00:37:33
---
"Produce fruit in keeping with repentance." This statement of John the Baptist serves as the starting point of a new series at Helmar, on the theme of repentance. There is a roughness in repentance, because it involves being humbled and broken over our sin. But though it is a rough embrace, it IS an embrace nevertheless--a loving act of the God who desires intimate fellowship with us. Repentance is a work God does in a sinner's heart, by the power of His Spirit working through His Word. In the coming weeks, we will week to study the fruits of repentance. May God produce them in our lives more deeply and broadly, to the glory of Christ.

"You Give Life"
Length Approximately 00:27:16
Nehemiah 9:6
---
Today's message was a look at the Biblical truth about life and God as the creator and giver of all life. Because that is true we must stand up for life and protect it and also promote the beauty of life and the joys that come to us in this life. We who call ourselves Christians cannot passively allow this disregard for life to continue. We must by God's strength and guidance protect and promote life at all times.

"A Holy Must"
Length Approximately 00:41:13
Luke 2:41-52
---
When Jesus was questioned as to why he'd stayed behind at the Temple and put Joseph and Mary through such emotional agony as they searched for Him for three days, Jesus showed no shame, remorse, or apology. He knew who He was, and what He had come to do, even at 12 years of age. And He would let nothing stop Him from doing what His Father had said was necessary--the work of accomplishing our salvation. We need to learn to discern, in our daily lives, the essential difference between what is necessary ("must"), and what is merely important ("should, can"). The specifics will vary--but we all must repent, trust in Christ, and obey His Word.

Fill up our days, fill up our minds, fill up our hearts with God's Word in 2010.

"When the Time Had Fully Come"
Length Approximately 00:25:39
Galatians 4:1-7
---
Today's message looks at the wonderful plan of God to bring to fruition His plan of salvation at the right time. It wasn't some mistake in planning that caused God to send His Son; it was part of His eternal plan. So at the right time Jesus was born of a woman under law to redeem those under law. All of humanity is under law unless freed by the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
Christmas is all about being reminded of that work of salvation.
